FutureWorld : Where Art Meets Science

2016-28-12-22-48-40
Ignite your imagination for the FutureWorld at ArtScienceMuseum, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore!

This exhibition has been ongoing for a while, and I finally visited it on 23 December 2016! The admission is SGD14 for local residents and there’s a time slot given for entry to ensure that visitors have enough time to interact with all the exhibits. (Last entry is 5:30pm!)

FutureWorld: Where Art Meets Science is produced by teamLab from Tokyo.

The first exhibit we saw was 100 Years Sea Animation Diorama and there were bean bags placed on the floor so that visitors can lie down and watch the wave patterns formed on the screen. I was pretty annoyed with these 2 girls who kept taking pictures of their foot against the waves and making a lot of noises! Sometimes I wish people can be more considerate when they visit museums.

As rivers pass through time, they hit upon shores and give life to islands and new hopes. However, with global warming looming our waters, what will the FutureWorld look like?

Next, we moved into a magical, pretty space called Nature where flowers keep blooming everywhere – on the floor, on the walls… you can camouflage yourself in this exhibit!

I make it easy for you to spot me! Just like what Chirrut from Star Wars Rouge One said “I’m with the Force and the Force is with me”, I would like to say “I’m with the Nature, and the Nature is with me!”

Tap on the displays to see rain from the clouds! and the sun bursting with confetti!

Visit the Town next, where Santa Claus visited on his sleigh with reindeers dropping presents off iconic buildings in Singapore – the Flyer, Gardens by the Bay…

Santa Claus is coming to Singapore! Look! That’s Gardens by the Bay and part of the Singapore Flyer being cut off 😛

The Park has lots of lighted balloons, and kids can program your own ‘hopscotch’ game and hop around as shapes get projected on the floor. Check out the virtual Waterfall too! It’s so real you feel so tiny standing before it and listen to the water gushing down from the top!

There’s also a very ‘enchanted forest’ with lovely animals roaming on Earth – elephants, wolves, cows… Oh! There’s also a cute ‘Sketch Aquarium’ where you can grab a piece of artwork to colour your turtle or fish and have it scanned and come to life in the virtual ocean! There were too many people working on this so we gave it a miss 😦

Play at the Park, Be Amazed by the Waterfall, and what seems like “Noah’s Ark” where animals roam in pairs on Earth.

Space is the finale of the exhibition and everyone is excited to go through these bright and dancing lights to have a glimpse of what the Futureworld beholds…

Be in the centre of the universe, as you look at all the bright stars shining above you! What a bright FutureWorld beholds!
